Artist's Comments

Went to the Perth Zoo two days ago and took a few photos of the flora and fauna. Here's a close-up of a sunflower... not as sharp as I would like, but that's the fault of the lens! :(

RAW conversion done in C1. Bordering, framing and digital signature done in Photoshop CS.

I like the composition but the lack of sharpness and shallow DoF puts me off.
:iconpurplepawn:
Yeh, if it was sharper the DOF would have worked :P
I'm a fan of shallow DOF though... that's just me.

I usually am, but think it's a bit too shallow here. It bothers me that part of the of the sunflower is out of focus yet visible.

Yea sure blame the lens ;P

Haha! It's true... my lens (Canon EF 75-300mm MKII) is very soft at full zoom unforunately. It's reasonably sharp under 200mm, but for the zoo I was primarily shooting @ 300mm

Sharpness is a neverending battle. Nice tone of yellow!
